Those running boards are awful.

That engine layout is 90s JDM in my mind. Such a big turbo and very straight forward engineering.

Our new 2018 3500 4WD has no running boards. It is awful. I feel sorry for my coworkers who are shorter than me.

I didn’t like them at first but they’re pretty handy and serve as a metal mud flap.
If I find better ones for cheap I’ll get them, but until then the truck has standing room.

I am immensely jealous of that Dodge. So clean! All the 2nd gens around here are absolutely rusted to hell or cost an arm and a leg with 200,000 miles on them.

I got lucky with this one, buying in family, with 82,000 miles, garage kept, and meticulously maintained. This will be useful for years to come.

I’ve seen people way shorter than that having no trouble getting into a dually or 2500+

It’s about a foot higher than our previous gen duallys.

Weren’t those 2wd?
![]() 05/15/2018 at 21:01 |

This is true. That being said, it is significantly higher than both of our 4WD Silverado 2500's. Either way, so long as they don’t hold water and freeze like Toyota’s, function follows form.

Griptape helps a lot with that kind of thing, doesn’t look pretty but works. One of the companies I’m working with uses it on work truck runners. If I was the fleet manager, they would all be gone.

Inability to jump into a truck is a sign of weakness. Anybody that works for / with you that can’t jump into your truck should be fired. Problem solved!

Same truck will cost about double today.
The new one will have about double the POWAHHHH and drive a lot better, but still.

When you have to climb in and out of it 20+ times a day, it gets annoying.

I was curious ... not that bad really.
